Dear current and prospective patients,
Please read the following brief overview of our medical practice which will help us be on the same page when it comes to testing and treatment decisions:
We are trained in internal medicine, integrative medicine, lifestyle medicine, and functional medicine. As a result, we practice holistic primary care. This will likely differ in some ways from the kind of health care you’ve experienced before. We believe in high-quality, proactive, & individualized care focused on (1) health promotion, (2) disease prevention, (3) early detection, and (4) root cause analysis.
To achieve this goal and to aid in evaluation & diagnosis we believe in ordering comprehensive testing to check for important markers of health. (Think about it: if you don’t look, you won’t find it…more often than not.) Our approach utilizes longer visits and questionnaires plus standard labs, imaging tests, specialist referrals, as well as special tests – all individualized, of course. To be clear, our practice has ZERO financial connection to any lab or outside medical office.
From a therapeutic standpoint, as an integrative medicine practice we recommend a variety of treatments (depending on the situation) ranging from conventional medicines & procedures to vitamins/supplements & complementary/alternative therapies.
We ask our patients to understand that one’s HEALTH INSURANCE MAY OR MAY NOT PROVIDE COVERAGE for some of the services, tests, or treatments we recommend. We aim to be judicious and prudent with our orders. And we try our best to predetermine coverage, but this is a challenging task. We certainly understand that finances may play a role in your ability to do certain tests or treatments. Ultimately, then, IT IS YOUR DECISION whether to do any given test to treatment.
We offer guidance to the best of our ability, but will never force you to do anything. It is your body and your life & health, after all. In our view, it is of utmost importance for patients to do everything in their power to optimize their own health and wellness in body, mind, and spirit. It is said that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”. So, think of these healthcare expenses as an investment in your well-being that will pay off and pay dividends over time.
Thank you for your understanding on this matter, and we look forward to working with you to help you reach your health goals.
Sincerely,
Drs. Madamba
